Catch a flight to Bulgaria from Ireland right now, when there’s still time, before the country gets overrun by tourists like Spain and Portugal! In fact, Huffington Post listed 17 places to see before they became famous and become too crowded for you to have fun. Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria was prominently featured by them.

Huffington Post has this to say about Sofia - “Price of Travel named Sofia Europe’s cheapest tourist city for 2014. We’re sure Bulgaria’s capital won’t stay a secret much longer: it’s super walkable and has a young, cosmopolitan vibe mixed with ornate churches, outdoor markets, and Ottoman architecture.”

Bulgaria is a small country, but a beautiful one, in the heart of Eastern and Central Europe. Bulgaria has been described by many as Europe’s biggest open secret. We wish more people knew about its breathtaking natural sceneries, mighty mountains and stunning historical landmarks. After all, Bulgaria is home to 9 UNESCO sites.

So why should you visit Bulgaria right now, before it becomes like Costa del Sol in Spain? Here’s why...

Reason #1: Bulgaria has the most diverse landscape that you will find anywhere. So do you like the sea? There’s the vast Black Sea Coast available to you, largely unspoiled and sparsely populated. Do you like the mountains? Well, you can choose from the Balkans, Rila Mountains, Pirin and the Radopes. Don’t forget to visit the Valley of Roses, where 85 percent of the word’s rose oil is produced.

Reason #2: Bulgaria is incredibly cheap – In fact, you would be hard pressed to find another country in Europe that is as cheap as Bulgaria. The cost of living here is as low as it gets. Sofia is described by many as the cheapest city in Europe. Meals cost just 5 to 10 euros here, while hotel rooms cost 10 euros for a night’s stay. The shopska salad, which is everybody’s favourite Bulgarian dish? Well, you can have it for just 2 euros. Fancy a cup of coffee? You can have a coffee in one of Bulgaria’s coffee houses that offers a free Wi Fi connection for just 2 to 3 euros. That is an amazing deal, indeed!

Reason #3: The nightlife here is simply amazing. You will never get bored in Bulgaria, the country has a busy and bustling nightlife. And why not! Bulgarians love to party. They love dancing to music until the early hours of the morning. The nightclubs and bars here are always full of young people, who just want to have a great time. When in Bulgaria, we strongly suggest participating in a late-night party on the beach at Sunny Beach. That’s an experience you will never forget. You will thank us later for it.

Reason #4: The Bulgarian beaches are spectacular! The Black Sea Coast in Bulgaria is 378 kilometres long. It is crowded in some parts and completely abandoned elsewhere. You will enjoy taking a long walk along the Black Sea Coast. You will find a plenty of solitude here.

Reason #5: The Bulgarian cuisine is outstanding. When in Bulgaria, you must try out the Shopska Salata, which is the national dish here. It is instantly refreshing and rejuvenating, especially after a full day spent travelling.  You will also enjoy the Tarator, Shkembe chorba, Banista, Meshana skara and of course, Bulgaria’s favourite alcoholic drink, the Rakia.

We hope you have an enjoyable time in Bulgaria and explore it to your heart’s content.
